This article is a report on the collaborative composition Marmita (2019), composed by me in collaboration with my colleague and composer DM. More specifically, in the report I describe the composition of Marmita's first movement, which involves improvisation within the collaborative process. Marmita is part of a group of three musical pieces that appear in my ongoing doctoral research. With the help of audio recordings, notes and a logbook, I present a history of the first day of the collaborative composition process; as well as addressing aspects that outlined the group's compositional decisions, involving permanent negotiation between the participants, composers/performers of the piece. Finally, I conclude with a reflection on the distribution of creativity, and the intention of joint commitment in collective improvisation, involving the concept of plural subject (GILBERT, 1990), which may be incorporated into analyses, advancing studies regarding the collective dynamics of musical creation.
