Abstract

This article presents a theoretical and poetic practice based on walking in contemporary art. The aim is to explore the intersection between cultural memory, preservation, and ruins of industrial heritage in Florianópolis Metropolitan Region, Brazil. The study compares the Naufragados Trail in Florianópolis and the Cedro Beach Trail in Palhoça. It also offers a poetic approach between prehistoric menhirs and contemporary ruins. The theories of Francesco Careri and John Ruskin are used to analyze the transformations of natural and cultural landscapes, considering their preservation or lack thereof. Walking is seen as a form of contemporary resistance, allowing an experience of the changes in landscape and cultural identity. In this way, the importance of historical collective memory and the preservation of industrial heritage is emphasized, not only in its material structures, but also in the narratives and knowledge they carry, as well as the contemporary challenges for their conservation and reuse.
