GRIS: A INTERSEÇÃO E A DUALIDADE ENTRE OS JOGOS E A ARTE

The purpose of this article is to address a question currently under debate: whether video games can be considered a form of art. To achieve this, a notion of art grounded in aesthetics was developed, and the concept of the game was borrowed from Huizinga (2004). Additionally, arguments from articles on the theme were examined, and an analysis of the game "Gris" (Nomada Studio, 2018), which contains aesthetic elements, was conducted. The main conclusion is that it is challenging to categorize video games as art, despite the fact that they share elements. Perhaps, the core of the debate lies elsewhere: the validation of games as a relevant cultural form. Furthermore, it almost seems imperative for games and art to remain distinct concepts, as merging them would eliminate the singularities defining the concept of a game.
