Abstract

This article discusses the importance of arts education in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (SDG 4), which seeks to ensure quality and equitable education for all by 2030. The text highlights how the arts and the culture contribute to the development of social and emotional skills, such as empathy and creativity, which are essential for tackling global challenges. It also emphasizes the need to integrate arts education into the basic education curriculum, recognizing its contribution to promoting sustainability and respect for cultural diversity, in line with the objectives and guidelines of Sustainable Development Goal 4.

  • Anna Nheatriz Nunes do Nascimento, Universidade Federal de Viçosa - UFV, Viçosa/MG, Brasil

    Mestrado em Educação em andamento pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (UFV) e graduada em Arquitetura e Urbanismo pela mesma instituição. Atua como ilustradora de livros e artista visual. Pesquisa as relações entre artes visuais e educação, com foco nas políticas públicas, nos conteúdos do componente curricular Arte no PNLD para o Ensino Médio e nas comunidades epistêmicas envolvidas na produção e avaliação desses materiais. Bolsista de mestrado CAPES.

  • Monique Eller, Universidade Federal de Viçosa - UFV, Viçosa/MG, Brasil

    Bacharel em Bioquímica (2008), Mestre (2010) e Doutora (2012) em Microbiologia Agrícola pela UFV. Professora Associada II do Departamento de Tecnologia de Alimentos da UFV (2013). Orientadora no Programa de Pós-graduação em Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos (UFV) e no Programa de Pós-graduação em Microbiologia Agrícola (UFV). Pesquisadora de produtividade do CNPq (DT-II) na área de Biotecnologia e Microbiologia Industrial. Líder do grupo de pesquisa "Produtos e Processos Biotecnológicos na Indústria de Alimentos" . Integra as Redes de Pesquisa INCT_Leveduras (CNPq) e Soja + (Fapemig).
